Including pedagogical advisors and learning communities can improve participant satisfaction with teacher training programs. Participants in the teacher training programs in Guatemala’s Education Program appreciated that the training was supported by pedagogical advisors who provided tailored coaching and mentoring. These advisors have insight into specific issues a teacher may be facing in the classroom and are better equipped to assist teachers. The learning communities created as part of this intervention also supported teacher success in the program through weekly meetings with groups of teachers who taught similar subjects in the same geographic areas. Including teacher support systems, like pedagogical advisors and learning communities, can improve completion of training programs and teacher satisfaction.
