The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) joins the whole of the U.S. Government in calling for restoration of constitutional rule in Mali, including full civilian authority. On March 22, in response to the unconstitutional seizure of power by elements of the Mali military, MCC announced it was halting operations in Mali.
In light of the ongoing situation on the ground and pending the full restoration of the elected civilian government, MCC has halted operations in Mali, except those necessary to safeguard MCC’s compact investments and to preserve and protect the health and safety of individuals affected by those investments. MCC will continue to assess the ongoing status of the compact as events unfold on the ground.
