For Immediate Release

February 24, 2022

WASHINGTON (Feb. 24, 2022) – The Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alice Albright announced the appointment of Mahmoud Bah as MCC’s new Deputy CEO today.

“I am honored and humbled to serve the Biden-Harris Administration as MCC’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer,” said Bah. “I am looking forward to working closely with our CEO, Alice Albright, and the entire MCC management team to put into motion our joint vision for the agency’s future. We will build on MCC’s strong track record and distinct model anchored in evidence, data driven development, and partner country ownership. The world has significantly changed since MCC’s creation in 2004 under President Bush’s leadership, and now is the time to leverage new technology, the digital economy and innovation, and youth to define the next chapter of MCC’s future.”

Bah has worked in several leadership roles over his 12-year tenure at MCC, including serving as Acting Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Resident Country Director in Côte d’Ivoire, and most recently as MCC’s Acting CEO from January 2021 to February 2022.

“I am grateful to keep Mahmoud as part of MCC’s senior leadership team and thankful to the Board for approving his appointment,” said Albright. “We have a unique opportunity to make a long-lasting impact in our partner countries, but we can only achieve our goals by building a solid team at the top and working hand in hand with MCC’s exceptional staff and country partners. This agency’s dedicated staff is working day and night to build partnerships with the private sector, civil society organizations, and host-country governments to carry out our mission of reducing poverty through economic growth.”

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. government agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants and assistance to countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, fighting corruption and respecting democratic rights.
