WASHINGTON, D.C., January 5, 2018 – President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate Sean Cairncross of Minnesota to be Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Mr. Cairncross currently serves as a Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff. Before joining the White House, Mr. Cairncross served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Republican National Committee for the 2016 election cycle.
If confirmed, Mr. Cairncross will lead the MCC, an independent U.S. Government agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants and assistance to poor countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, from fighting corruption to respecting democratic rights.
