MCC CEO Alice Albright hosted His Excellency Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mozambique Ambassador to the United States Alfredo Fabião Nuvunga, and Mozambique Minister of Economy and Finance Ernesto Max Elias Tonela at on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC for the signing of the MCC Mozambique Connectivity and Coastal Resilience Compact.
The Mozambique Connectivity and Coastal Resilience Compact is an ambitious and innovative attempt to address the multifaceted risks of climate change to MCC’s compact investments. Unique to the design of the compact is the focus on climate-resilient infrastructure, climate finance, and coastal development that aims to strengthen local economies reliant upon agriculture and fisheries yet limited by connectivity and reliable access. The compact will showcase three interrelated projects that all meet MCC’s comprehensive investment criteria, promote strong gender and youth and social inclusion, and leverage private capital.
