If someone asked you why you work to end poverty, what would you say?
It’s a question we think about every day at MCC, where our mission to reduce poverty through economic growth is more than a job—it’s personal. We get great satisfaction from helping farmers provide for their families thanks to an MCC-funded highway that enables them to take their produce to market year-round, and bringing running water to households for the first time thanks to an MCC water and sanitation project.
We have invested more than $10 billion toward lifting people out of poverty, but we know there is more to do. And in partnership with like-minded people and organizations, we can make an even bigger difference in people’s lives around the world.
That’s why this year, we are marking International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17 with a social media campaign that gives us all a chance to share why ending poverty is important to us.
Join us by lending your voice to the campaign. Here’s how:
- Print out this form that reads, “I’m working to #EndPoverty because…” and finish the sentence in your own words.
- Then hold up the sign and snap a photo like you see here.
- Post the photo on social media with the hashtag #EndPoverty, and tag us to see your photos alongside ours on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and our new Instagram account.
We’ve already collected dozens of photos, and by joining us, you’ll be taking part in an important effort to remind the world that we can achieve great things when we work together.
