Gina Porto Spiro serves as Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Vice President of the Office of the General Counsel. Since originally joining MCC in 2006, Ms. Spiro has served in a number of roles, including as the Acting General Counsel, an Assistant General Counsel, the Managing Director of Operations in the Department of Compact Operations, the Senior Director of Corporate Policy and Planning in the Office of the CEO, and a Senior International Attorney in the Office of the General Counsel.
While away from MCC from 2012 to 2014, Ms. Spiro served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of Solar Sister, Inc. Earlier in her legal career, Ms. Spiro was a transactional attorney in the private sector. She represented institutional lenders and investors in connection with the development, financing, construction, and operation of domestic and international infrastructure projects, primarily in the energy sector, and also represented energy trading companies in transactions involving the purchase, sale, storage, exchange, transportation and processing of oil and natural gas.
Ms. Spiro received her B.A. in American Studies magna cum laude from Fordham University and her J.D. cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Fordham University School of Law, where she also was a member of the Law Review. She is a member of the bar of the State of New York and of the District of Columbia.
