Claudia S. Pirela is a Program Officer for the Department of Compact Operations. She joined MCC in 2013. As an international development professional, she has experience in designing and managing projects that range from democracy strengthening to infrastructure building in Latin America, the Caucuses, the Middle East and South Asia.
Before MCC, Claudia was a member of the Latin American and Caribbean team at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) where she managed programs primarily in Haiti and Peru focused on electoral processes, civic education, civil society building and political party strengthening. She is a native bilingual in Spanish and English and fully fluent in French, having worked as a language assistant in France shortly after graduating from university. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and French from James Madison University and a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Foreign Service.
