Arif Mamun serves as the Deputy Vice President for Evaluation in the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Department of Policy and Evaluation. In that capacity, he provides strategic direction and technical oversight of MCC’s Economic Analysis and Monitoring and Evaluation divisions, which support evidence-based prioritization of MCC’s investments in partner countries and measurement of their results. Previously, Mr. Mamun was the Managing Director for Economic Analysis at MCC.
Mr. Mamun is an economist with more than 20 years of experience in data, evidence, and research on social investments, and his work informed strategic policy decisions and program implementation in the U.S., Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining MCC, he was an Associate Director of International Research at Mathematica, where he served in leadership roles for conducting research and evaluation across a diverse set of sectors. He began his career in Bangladesh, where he contributed to impact and performance evaluations, and gained experience in promoting use of evidence through dialogues among researchers, practitioners, and policy makers. He also taught economics at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
Mr. Mamun holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Dhaka.
