MCC CEO Travels to Gabon for AGOA Forum

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Millennium Challenge Corporation CEO Dana J. Hyde and Principal Deputy Vice President for Compact Operations Kyeh Kim are in Gabon this week to participate in the 2015 U.S.-sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum, also known as the AGOA Forum. The theme of this year’s Forum is “AGOA at 15:  Charting a Course for a Sustainable U.S.-Africa Trade and Investment Partnership.”

Hyde and Kim will discuss MCC’s role in Power Africa, the agency’s new Public-Private Partnership Platform, and the potential for regional MCC investments that generate higher returns and greater poverty reductions. Find details on their schedules below.

As one of the U.S. agencies leading efforts to build trade capacity in Africa, MCC obligated nearly $3 billion in funding for trade capacity building activities in 15 of the 41 AGOA countries.This week’s Forum brings together senior U.S. administration officials, African government ministers, as well as U.S. and African business and civil society stakeholders for an active discussion and exchange of ideas and information critical to AGOA’s continued success. AGOA – the African Growth and Opportunity Act – is the centerpiece of the U.S. trade policy with sub-Saharan Africa.
